„First last month” will show on July 20th, 2024, at 9:45 AM in Toronto, Canada.
It’s a work of a real Renaissance artist – Elena Vatamanu-Mărgineanu directed, wrote, shot, and edited the movie herself while managing a great team of passionate people in her home country. She takes us back to the Moldovian post-Soviet big housing estate to tell us a moving story about a girl and her grandmother, who are being tested by the inevitable passage of time. On the same day that Doina gets her first period, her grandma suffers from a stroke. Since then, their roles have been inverted. When Doina’s dad considers taking grandma to a nursery home, the girl has to prove to him that she is mature enough to take care of and keep her only mother figure close to her.
